The Dalles, Oregon
Sorosis Park in The Dalles has long been a favorite recreation spot. Sorosis (yes, it's pronounced just like the liver disease) overlooks the city of The Dalles, Oregon. Located at the crest of Scenic Drive, adjacent to the Columbia Gorge Community College, the park has lots of fun things to do. Towering pine trees populate the park, providing a forested atmosphere mixed with lots of green grassy areas for play. The park is often a location for city-wide events, and is the largest public park in The Dalles.
A one-mile nature trail surrounds the parameter of the park, providing a scenic walking trail for people who want to stretch their legs and get a little exercise in the open air while enjoying the scenic beauty.
Tennis Courts and exercise equipment are provided for the more athletically minded.
A children's play structure provides hours of fun for kids.
A multitude of picnic tables are available for summer picnicing, and an open air shelter is available for groups. Bathrooms are available during the summer.
The Vogt Fountain is a city landmark. Surrounding it is the Memorial Rose Garden.
Veteran's Memorial is located directly across Scenic Drive from the Memorial Rose Garden.
Sorosis is maintained by the Wasco County Parks and Recreation Department.
